Oct 3 (Reuters) - Miguel Cabrera became the first player in 45 years to win Major League Baseball's Triple Crown after finishing the 2012 season on Wednesday leading the American League in batting average, home runs and runs batted in.
The Detroit Tigers slugger, who had a .330 batting average, 44 home runs and 139 RBI, is the first player to win the award since Carl Yastrzemski in 1967. (Reporting by Larry Fine in New York; Editing by Frank Pingue)
